This sweet wiggle butt just won’t sit still for a picture. Penelope is just so excited and happy to shower love and affection on all she meets. She is especially thankful to the folks at West Orange Animal Shelter and Welfare League for being part of the team that saved her life.

We don’t know how anyone could abandon this sweet girl, but they did. Penelope was found wondering around South Mountain Reservation in South Orange. When a good Samaritan found her, she was under weight, with cuts and bruises on her legs and mouth. Penelope was dehydrated, starving, and shut down.

The police were notified and she was brought to the West Orange Animal Shelter. Not surprisingly, no one came to claim her. The staff at the shelter attended to Penelope, giving her nice soft blankets to sleep on, treats and nutritious food, and lots of love. Once her stray hold was up, Penelope went to the vet, who estimated her age to be about 10 years old. The cuts and bruises have started to heal. Overall she is in good health but needs a growth on her neck removed.
