Max is quite the energetic shepherd. This smallish shepherd’s owner was hospitalized and Max found his way to the shelter East Orange severely underweight and a little shaggy. Initially shy when he arrived, today Max loves to play and hang out with the volunteers at the shelter.

Max is about 3 years old and currently being fostered through Wag On Inn Rescue. He can spend all day chasing a tennis ball or other toys laying about his foster’s home. When the leash comes on, he is ready to go exploring on a long walk. Max appears to be good with well mannered dogs outside of the home, but would do best as the only dog in the home. He does seem to have a high prey drive, so we doubt a cat would be in his future.

Given his time on the street, Max is a very fast eater and can get overly excited when the treats come out. While in his foster home, Max has received training and is an overall good boy. And he loves meeting new people.

We met Max when he was at the East Orange Animal Alliance and are listing him as a courtesy for Wag On Inn Rescue. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Max will need a new foster home or preferably an adopter by June 1st. At this time you can adopt or foster Max directly from the Wag On Inn.
